About Vert Frais
Japanese Eatery featuring Ramen, Craft Cocktails, and a French-Japanese Brunch
Located at 43-10 Crescent St, Long Island City, NY 11101, Vert Frais operates as a japanese serving Long Island City in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Long Island City, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across New York run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. The most common schedule is 12β4 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (646) 822-9258. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is vertfrais.squarespace.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Traffic in Long Island City peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Such a cute restaurant! The interior is clean and lovely. I ordered the Japanese matcha fluffy pancakes and the matcha rose iced tea, and both were pretty good! The Japanese-style dishes were not exactly authentic, but still good and enjoyable! Iβd love to come back and try more items from the menu.

The line was incredibly long on a weekend. While reservations arenβt accepted, you can write down your name and return later. The food presentation was beautiful, but the portions were quite small, leaving me feeling hungry.

I happened to arrive right at opening because I saw a line forming outside while passing by. I could feel the meticulous attention to detail inside; not a single corner of the interior was overlooked. Since it was my first visit, I ordered their most famous/classic menu. The matcha suffle was beautifully made and tasted exactly as a classic souffle should. For the omelet, the accompanying sauce was the absolute highlight. With a subtle hint of tomato acidity, the sauce had a brilliant tangy and rich balance. Although the omelet was cooked beautifully to a soft, tender texture, the suace truly upgraded the plain dish. Due to busy location and peak hours, it might not be the place for a slow and leisurrly brunch. However, a good brunch spot is about the entire experience- not just the foos, but the decor, tableware, furniture, and even the restroom. In this regard, this place is absolutely flawless.

Ambiance (5/5): Super cute and trendy on the inside. The vibes are very welcoming, chill, no noise. The establishment is quite small and can be very tight on seating. The wait was around 30 minutes for 4 on at 1:30p on a Sunday. By the time our meal ended, there were several empty tables. Service (4/5): Timing of the dishes was not in sync with the table (not that that bad, just noticeable). Ordering wasnβt as smooth as we hoped but all in all corrected (order was wrong but was corrected when we were asked to re-confirm the order). By the time we sat, the food was out within 20 min and then the pancakes came out another 20 min after the first dish. Food (5/5): The food was outstanding! Seriously like everything from the pancakes, ramen, to the lemonade. Lunch special of Tan Tan ramen (special May 2026) and Pork Cha-Shu Bowl. Tan Tan was spectacular and was def better than the bowl. The broth had so much flavor with richness, spice, spicy level, half seasoned egg. The noodles were also a lovely bouncy chew. The pork was pretty standard with about 5 thin slices spread over a soy sauce based sauce. Omurice was very silky. The egg was nice and runny. I liked that the sauce wasnβt too k

Finally came out to try Vert Frais with a group of friends. It was about an hour wait even at opening, so it may be better to come later to avoid the opening crowd or go on a weekday if you're able. The lavender lemonade was incredible, and their drinks were good in general, more impressive than the food. The fries and karaage our group shared were great. I ordered a plain omelette that came with a side salad and bread. Omelette was good, but not mindblowing, and the sides have nothing worthy of note. I would order something else if I come back. Their fondant au chocolate and hot chocolate are extremely rich and sweet, so I do wish the fondant came with more ice cream to balance the sweetness. The affogato's ice cream and espresso ratio could be better as well. Overall it was a nice place to have a chance to dine in at.
